Helping seniors live fully since 1904.
Naming our community after Margaret S. Parmly reflects our long tradition of compassionate care for seniors, while “LifePointes” stands for the wellness concepts represented by “points of life” beyond age 55.
Parmly’s evolution into a vibrant senior living community began with the arrival of Swedish immigrants who brought their deeply rooted cultural and religious values to Minnesota in the late 1800s. Once established, these hardworking newcomers – through the leadership of the Chisago Lakes Lutheran Churches – saw a need to care for aging community members. In 1904, they purchased a 23-acre site in Chisago City and built the 18-room home that became the foundation of today’s advanced senior community. After forming the Board of Social Ministry, its members soon renamed it to Ecumen.
Since those early years, thanks to gifts from benefactors, visionary leaders and the blessing of enormously dedicated employees and selfless volunteers, the campus has continued to grow and thrive. Today’s Parmly represents the most advanced concepts in successful aging. Our programs, services and amenities are among the best in the nation, honoring the visionary Swedish pioneers whose heartfelt commitment to caring values lives on in our community.
